Mathematics

Mathematics teaches us how to make sense of the world around us through development of a young person’s ability to calculate, to reason and to solve problems. Mathematics education should offer pupils challenge to equip them with knowledge, skills and the ability and confidence to use and apply these to meet present and future needs.

Beauchamp Middle School aims to ensure that all pupils, irrespective of gender, race or culture, have access to a range of stimulating problems and activities, following the National Curriculum programmes of study through the National Numeracy Strategy. Teachers deliver the curriculum in different ways to ensure that the preferred learning styles of all young people are regularly catered for whether visual, audio or kinaesthetic. As they move through the school pupil’s mathematical experience should be continuous and progressive producing competent and confident young mathematicians.
