At Beauchamp the Religious Education syllabus is based on the Bedfordshire Framework. This ensures that Religious Education is taught in agreement with The Education Reform Act (1988).
The Bedfordshire Framework promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural mental and physical development of pupils.
There are 2 specific aims to the approach of Religious Education at Beauchamp:- learning about religion and learning from religion. This is covered through the following topics:-
• Stories and Festivals of the Natural World
• Leaders including: Jesus, Muhammad & Guru Nanak
• Growing up in a Hindu Home
• Symbols
• Sacred Writings
• Neighbours
• What it means to be a Sikh
• Journeys and Pilgrimage
• Faith and Action
• Worship and Celebration
• Christianity: Belief and Lifestyle
• Islam – A Way of Life
We aim to invite speakers of different faiths into school and arrange visits to places of worship. Using a hands–on approach the school has a range of authentic artefacts and is looking to add to, and update our collection this year. We have just purchased a new set of bibles and we are continually reviewing our schemes of work in order to encompass new technology including: DVD’s, CD Roms and the use of the internet.
